May 2009 bring many joys & much healing.
Here's a brief as I can be, overview of the last year.
Diagnosed with Breast Cancer in October 2007, a mastectomy on my right breast was done on
Dec. 12, 2007. (With reconstructive surgery at the same time..called a Tram Flap)
It was determined I was in Stage 4 , had 39 Lymph nodes removed.
I was given chemotherapy in February 2008 along with Herceptin and Zometa
every three weeks for 6 chemos.
Lost my hair...teeehhheee
Then I did chest radiation, every week day for 28 days.
During my chest radiation , it was discovered I had 5 brain tumors. These were removed with
Gamma Knife surgery. A follow up MRI was done in August and 8 more tumors were discovered...Now I am done with chest radiation and on to whole brain radiation. Every week day for 20 treatments UGH
Lost my hair again...not so funny this time
My father passed away Aug 4th ...and my step mom passed away on Nov 5th.
I completed my brain radiation Oct 20th. I will have another Brain MRI on 1/26/09 to see if the brain tumors are gone.
A Pet/CT scan the first of Dec. 2008 shows no cancer in my body..Praying for great results in January with the brain MRI.
The Herception and Zometa continued until my heart function decreased and my Oncologist decided to stop the Herceptin.
I have two more Zometa IV's and I should be done with all my treatments
Through all of this we have continued to see joy and miracles. God has helped me
to survive this and to forgive others. I have prayed to help others on this
journey and to share what I experienced
