New Treasures

After a very busy month at work, I am taking some much needed vacation days. I have accumulated quite a bit of vacation time that I need to use up before the end of the year, so I decided to take this week off and just relax at home and enjoy some of my favorite activities.

Of course, my very favorite activity is browsing the antique malls and that is what I did yesterday. I found a few really cute items to buy and bring home and I even stayed within my budget. It's amazing how some days when you go to the antique malls you find nothing and other days, you find all kinds of goodies. Yesterday was my lucky day.

I found this sweet little wicker basket with a handle. Price was marked down to just $3.00. I thought it would be cute either sitting on my kitchen table holding napkins or on my desk holding office supplies, notes or something of the like.

I also found three sweet little vintage postcards, each for less than $3.00. I wasn't able to get a clear close-up shot of them, but you can see a glimpse of them in my new little wicker basket.

In the same booth at the antique mall, I also found two really sweet crocheted oval shaped ecru colored doilies.

The last item I found, and probably my favorite was a white hobnail flower vase that stands 9 inches in height. I was shocked when I saw that the price was only $6.00. I could hardly believe it as I knew it was worth much more. But then I noticed on the sticker that it was marked "As Is". Took me a minute to figure out what the "As Is" was, but then I noticed that two of the hobnails were chipped, so I realized that the vase could not be filled with water. The chips were barely noticeable and I almost missed them. Even with the vase not being able to be used for its original purpose, it can still hold artificial flowers and the chips can be hidden by keeping them to the backside, so I couldn't just leave it there. It just had to come home with me.

The vase now sits on my desk in my office at home with some silk flowers that I had laying around that weren't being used. It looks so pretty and very much like spring.

The week's not even half over yet, and I am not done visiting the antique malls, so maybe I will have more goodies to show later in the week.

Have a lovely day!!
